Something Happened in Our Town
To help our community and families navigate the complex emotions and conversations in this challenging time, CTC has created a video presentation of the children’s book, Something Happened in our Town as a resource for families to watch together. This story follows two families—one White, one Black, as they discuss a police shooting of a Black man in their community. The book was written by a biracial team of child psychologists and published by the American Psychological Association.
We recommend that families watch this video together and engage with the accompanying resources. We hope parents will encourage young people to ask their questions and seek the answers they need.
CTC is committed to Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in our staff, on our stages, in our audiences, and in our community. We need to work together, as a community, to create a safe and supportive environment. In this moment, we lean into our mission to educate, challenge, and inspire by providing families a creative resource to help understand these trying times.
